Anamosa man allegedly pushes woman’s head through wall

Anamosa police arrested a man at his residence Wednesday night after a a woman reported multiple domestic abuse incidents occurring between February 22 and 23.
Officers said the alleged victim told police that Michael A. Switzer, of 306 E. Plum St., held her captive and beat her up multiple times during those two days.
Anamosa Police Chief Robert Simonson said Switzer allegedly forced a woman from her vehicle, thew her down to the cement and banged her head. He also said the woman reported that Switzer pushed her head through a wall, choked her to unconsciousness , bit her fingers and stomped her on the chest and back.
Officers from both the Anamosa Police Department and Jones County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Switzer's home Wednesday night. He was then arrested on two counts of Domestic Assault with Injury and False Imprisonment, a charge related to intentionally confining an individual against their will.
Officers released Switizer from the Jones County Jail Thursday morning. He was released on his own recognizance, meaning the judge released him on his own promise to appear in court and, without posting bail.
