Motor size not the problem, it’s the wake
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The Feb. 16 Gazette editorial about motor size on Lake Macbride missed the point for fishermen. Most fishermen use their boats on many different lakes and rivers - not just Macbride. Owning and switching motors on boats is costly and difficult.
Having a larger motor does not mean a fisherman is interested in hopping over to Coralville Lake to use it for water skiing and charging up and down the lake. Fishermen use still or troll fishing on Macbride, and move at no-wake speeds to change locations.
Motor size is not the problem. The rule as it now exists is not fair to all lake users.
Fishermen, talk to your legislators!
