Police said the driver of a car that flipped on its top in the yard of a Marion residence Tuesday may have had a medical condition.
Diana Hodge, 50, of Cedar Rapids, was northbound on 31st Street near Taube Park and Wilkins Elementary School around 3 p.m. when her car left the roadway, police said. It hit two mailboxes and a street sign before crossing to the west side of the street and hitting another street sign in the 2300 block.
The car rolled onto its top near the intersection of 31st Street and 24th Avenue.
Hodge was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
If it was a medical condition that led to the wreck, it would likely be the second accident of that kind in the area in as many days. On Monday, a witness said a woman was shaking as her car crept along Blairs Ferry Road near Interstate 380 just before it sped off and struck two vehicles. Police had not confirmed if a medical condition caused that crash, and injuries were not serious.
