Head injuries should be taken seriously
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Recently I have read much about traumatic brain injuries. These injuries demand quick action.
Four years ago, I was with friends walking to the theater. Foolishly, I was not concentrating on my walking, fell and hit my head, very hard.
I dismissed it and went home to rest. But because of the quick action of my family and friends, the efficiency of Mercy Medical Center and the skill of the surgical team at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, this story is a success.
Any time you fall and hit your head, immediately take action and have someone take you to the emergency room where a simple test can determine the severity of the injury. Don't put it off to the next day - you may not have that next day.
