DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau says the three prep tournaments recently hosted at Wells Fargo Arena pumped roughly $3.5 million into the local economy.
WHO-TV reports that the bureau estimates the high school wrestling tournament brought about $1.5 million into metro Des Moines.
The boys' and girls' basketball tournaments each had an economic impact of about $1 million.
Officials also say that more fans visited downtown Des Moines restaurants than in previous years.
The tournaments wrapped up with boys' title games last weekend.
