Other street changes needed with closure

One thing the city of Cedar Rapids could do to ease the inconvenience of closing Third Street under the U.S. Cellular Center would be to remove the curb that prevents southbound traffic on A Avenue from entering Interstate 380 southbound.
Many people use Third Street as the easiest way to get onto I-380 south from downtown. If the curb was removed, then Fifth Street to A Avenue would be an excellent substitute. Without the traffic from Third Street, there should not be a problem with removing the curb and allowing traffic to enter I-380 instead of being forced over to B Avenue where many people then make a dangerous U-turn to enter I-380 southbound.
Also the stop sign on northbound A Avenue at Third Street should be removed since there is no cross traffic there.
