Now that hunting doves is legal, what’s next?
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 5, 2011 4:57 pm
Iowa has a century-long tradition of protecting doves, a symbol of peace. A big rose to state senators in Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, and Marion, Joe Bolkcom, Swati
Dandekar, Bob Dvorsky, Rob Hogg and Wally Horn, for voting to not kill doves.
A big thistle to House Speaker Kraig Paulsen, Hiawatha, for voting to kill birds of peace and bypassing the comment period for this legislation.
Is our state bird, the beautiful gold finch, next?
