WATERLOO - Two of the three expected defense witnesses ended up not taking the stand in former Waterloo teacher Larry Twigg's trial for five counts of lascivious acts with a child.
One of those canceled witnesses was Twigg himself, who opted not to testify late Wednesday afternoon, his defense attorney James Metcalf said.
“It was a legal decision I made with him late last afternoon,” Metcalf told jurors.
Another witness was a psychiatric expert from Black Hawk Grundy Mental Health Center, who saw Twigg regarding neurological problems from which he suffered. Another psychiatric expert from Minnesota is expected to testify this afternoon.
In previous questions to prosecution witnesses, Metcalf indicated Twigg may be suffering problems affecting his impulse control and judgement caused by a traffic accident nine years ago.
