Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) visited Kirkwood Community College Monday afternoon to speak with students and community members.
Paul has not announced that he is an official presidential candidate, but he is considering running for the nation's highest elected office.
Paul said he has concerns about the economic state of the country and that politicians need to take action quickly.
“I think it's going to get much worse. We're going to have a lot more problems until the people in Washington are forced into some real reforms,” Paul said. “I don't think the government should be doing all these things. I want the government to be doing a lot less overseas and as well as at home and have us live within our means, but that seems to be too complicated for a lot of people.”
He said America needs to pay closer attention to the constitution and follow the principles outlined in the document.
“It isn't a living, breathing document. It's a document we're supposed to follow the way it was written,” he said.
