Tax extension could benefit rural areas

On May 3, I'll be voting yes for the local-option sales tax. Do I really want to pay the tax until 2034? Probably not. But, I will vote yes because I live in the unincorporated area of Linn County.
If the cities vote yes and the rural area votes no, we will pay the tax on all of our city purchases, but receive none of the benefit, a benefit of $5 million per year. If we vote yes and the cities vote no, we will still receive roughly $250,000 per year. The way I look at it, we have nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain.
