Against funding killings? Tell Defense Department
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Apr. 27, 2011 10:36 am
John Steger (April 20 letter), and those who believe as he does that abortion is murder, do not want their tax money going to Planned Parenthood because Planned Parenthood provides some abortions, roughly 3 percent of its services. Steger should turn his attention to a part of our government that is devoted almost entirely to killing: defense department. The defense department's budget for 2010 was more than $663 billion, Planned Parenthood's budget a tiny fraction of that.
I do not want my tax dollars being spent to kill people in any country. These people might have grown up to be doctors, teachers, scientists or great parents. I would rather my taxes be spent on services such as Planned Parenthood, which promotes women's health, than on exporting killing to the world.
