Stop spending millions on buildings we don't need

LOST is a perfect acronym for the extension of the sales tax requested by our spend-happy City Council. Giving a 20-year guarantee of a tax, any tax, to a bunch of politicians is ludicrous. You cannot tax yourselves into prosperity. There will never be enough money for elected officials. and once the 20-year guarantee is in place, they will find other noble causes to justify raising the property tax rate.
We are hearing only part of the story. The federal and state government will pay for flood protection, they just won't contribute to all of the mayor's wants list. The experts at FEMA and the Corps of Engineers know what is sound economic policy as it relates to flood protection.
Our Council members have employed scare tactics and tried to pit the west side against the east in their efforts to get their hands on this money.
The property tax relief carrot gets dangled every time the sales tax gets raised and still property taxes increase. The way to stop property tax escalation is to stop spending millions on buildings we don't need. Vote no.
