Protect human rights in this country, too
The Gazette Opinion Staff
May. 2, 2011 6:02 pm
Wars are often fought to defend the rights of the oppressed in other countries, though there may be other less honorable motives promoting those wars.
Here in America, many are fighting to defend the human rights of the most helpless, the right to life for unborn humans. Our president is rightly concerned for the rights of the oppressed in other nations, but he has repeatedly refused to deny the use of government money, our tax dollars, to fund the operation of Planned Parenthood.
Much has been said to represent Planned Parenthood as a friend to women (not a friend to the unborn), but the fact remains that Planned Parenthood is the chief provider of abortions in America.
Many of our citizens view most abortions as the killing (murdering) of those not yet born, and in some cases killing them after a live birth.
What hypocrites we are to fight for the human rights of those in other nations, while we seem indifferent to the shedding of innocent blood on our own doorsteps.
