‘Corporate America’ is bringing us down
The Gazette Opinion Staff

The author of “Government's borrowing still out of control” (Gary Fischer, April 17) stated that “All of us together don't earn enough money to pay off the $14 trillion debt that has been accumulated, let alone afford to pay more debt and more interest.”
I am wondering if this statement can be backed up by actual factual information. There seems to be a large number of people with a large amount of disposable income. Tax cuts for corporations could be reduced.
This is no longer the United States of America. It seems that this has become Corporate America. Capitalism is a system of economics, but it seems more like our national religion these days.
Republicans seem to favor this generating of wealth at all costs for the few. If they are successful in eliminating the middle class, businesses will have no one to purchase their goods and services and there will be no tax base.
If Republicans destroy Medicaid and Social Security, we may see more protests by middle class members who make the goods and provide the services that this country relies on. Where is their patriotism?
Medicare and Social Security are insurance and retirement savings programs. If anyone tries to steal what I have worked for since I was 16, they will find that I will fight against such a theft with all I have. Do not tread on me. Allowing corporations to bring our country down is not an option for me.
