Former West Delaware prep B.J. Hermsen is scheduled to start on Saturday night at Perfect Game Field as the Kernels open up a three game series with the Beloit Snappers.
Hermsen is a native of Masonville, IA. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 6th round of the 2008 draft. He pitched against the Kernels last season and put on a great show. He threw a complete game shutout while only allowing one hit against the Kernels on June 17, 2010.
This season Hermsen has a 2-3 record with a 4.23 E.R.A for the Snappers.
It will be a fun night at the ballpark. Currently, the Kernels are in 2nd place in the Western Division of the Midwest League with an 18-9 record. Beloit is in 3rd place with a 16-9 record.
