We’ve already voted; why do another one?

Just two days after the defeat of the local-option sales tax extension, a front page Gazette article talked of when they might have another vote. If the vote had been approved, would those opposed been allowed to have another vote? Not!
If this government is going to keep forcing a vote until it is approved, why bother voting at all?
And what is wrong with the voting public? All of the forced-upon-us taxes and laws that we have no say about, and when we can vote against a tax, it's voted down by only 221 votes.
