Ballroom beams removed in downtown Cedar Rapids
UPDATE: Construction around downtown Cedar Rapids continues today, with demolition continuing to make way for the city's new convention complex.
Crews removed main support beams Friday morning for the old hotel ballrooms.
Crews had to close one westbound lane of First Avenue to avoid any falling debris.
The contractor says the Roosevelt parking garage will probably be the last big structure to come down for the convention complex demolition. There's no exact timeline for that demolition.
