Authorities investigating fire in Cedar Rapids
Cedar Rapids police and fire crews responded to reports of a house fire around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Crews reportedly saw light smoke when they arrived at the house on 19th Avenue SW. A spokesman for the fire department said firefighters found a small fire in the kitchen of the two-story house. The kitchen apparently suffered minor damage and no injuries were reported.
Witnesses on scene said they heard an explosion from the house on Saturday evening. Debris and a displaced window could be seen along the side of the house. Authorities said the fire is still under investigation and has not been ruled suspicious.
