Shame on you, Republican Party
The Gazette Opinion Staff

Country first! That is what they bleated over and over again at the 2008 Republican convention.
Now these same hypocrites want to hold hostage needed funds for relief from the tornadoes that hit Joplin, Mo., and countless other cities and towns across the Midwest and South. They want matching spending cuts. Shame on you, Republican Party.
It is bad enough your war is on old people through proposed Medicare and Social Security cuts and on labor with the attempted final destruction of labor in Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Idaho, but this goes beyond belief.
America isn't broke. It is long past time to repeal the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax giveaways to the wealthy. It is time for them to bear their fair share of the burden.
