Iowa City Area Chamber to host rail rally with Sen. McCoy tomorrow

-Community urged to contact legislators in support of passenger rail service from Iowa City to Chicago-
WHAT: Passenger rail rally hosted by the Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce and Senator Matt McCoy, co-chair of the Transportation, Infrastructure committee. The Chamber is urging community members to contact their legislators in support of passenger rail service from Iowa City to Chicago via the Quad Cities. The Senate has passed legislation for rail funding, and it now goes to the House and Governor.
WHEN: 11:45 a.m.; Friday, June 3 (The program will last no more than 20 minutes.)
WHERE: Greene Square Park, Cedar Rapids
In October, Iowa was awarded $230 million in federal funds for the project. The funding requires a $20 million matching grant from the State. An additional rail rally will take place tomorrow in the Quad Cities.
The Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, on behalf of more than 1,000 members, actively fosters a better business environment through community and economic development, member services and public policy advocacy.
