Iowa City police looking for help to locate assault suspect

An assault report was filed at the Iowa City Police Department at 7:28 a.m. on Saturday after a man told authorities that he was confronted and injured by an unknown assailant in an alley between the 100 blocks of East College Street and East Burlington Street, a press release said.
Reports indicate that the man was walking in the alley when he was confronted by an African-American male who struck him in the face, causing him to fall back against a wall. Abrasions were present on the man's face, knee and ankle at the time of the report, Iowa City Police said.
The area where the incident occurred was checked by officers, but no suspect was located. The suspect is described as being of medium build and standing from six feet to six feet-two-inches tall. He was reported to have been wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident, and was last seen walking north on Clinton Street from the scene.
