Howard Kendrick (2004) extended his 16 game hitting streak with a RBI double in the third inning of the Angels 5-1 win over the Mariners Thursday. Peter Bourjos (2007) left the game after a RBI double in the 8th inning. Angels top Prospect and former Cedar Rapids Kernels Mike Trout (2009-10) was called up from AA Arkansas to join the team today.
Trout, who will be the youngest player in major league baseball, was hitting .330 with 9 HR, 11 triples, 27 RBI and stole 28 bases in 74 games this season for the Travelers. Mike Trout was named the Minor League Player of the Year by Topps in 2010 and was selected as the top prospect in all of baseball by MLB.com prior to the 2011 season.
