Branstad acting in his own interests
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 15, 2011 11:14 am
I hope that Iowans will take a step back and examine the moves made by Gov. Terry Branstad to depose the Board of Regent leaders. He repeatedly asked for their resignations. They finally gave in. The reasons given by the governor were to have somebody who shares his political philosophy, as well as somebody who can get along with the Republican Legislature.
These reasons are petty political motivations.
Also, his stated reason for wanting an Iowa State University alum as the board president (regents are searching for a new ISU president) is equally ridiculous. Can only an ISU alum pick an ISU president?
Branstad continues to act in his own interests while not concerning himself with the people he governs.
