Meskwaki staff handled recent storms admirably
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 16, 2011 12:21 am
I am writing to commend all the employees of the Meskwaki Bingo Casino Hotel in Tama during the severe thunderstorms that came through the state early Monday morning.
Some of my family members and I were celebrating my birthday at the establishment and spending the night there, as well.
Because of their efficient personnel and security, at the onset of the severe thunderstorms, they started their security intercom system that warned the patrons in every hotel room and area of their establishment to immediately seek safety in the lower levels of their building.
As the hotel patrons got down to the lower
level of their building, their security personnel were there to guide everyone to a safe room until the severe weather had passed.
Although it was a surprising wake-up alert, I believe everyone was pleased with the way the situation was handled.
As I looked out our hotel window after daylight and saw all the trees down and the damage in the area, I thank them for their concern for our safety.
