Ride to Downtown Farmers Market by bike

The recent story (July 8) describing Iowa's worsening rates of obesity highlighted the need for a widespread focus on this public health issue. Clearly, behavioral and social norms must be addressed, including our level of physical activity.
In Cedar Rapids, we have many opportunities to increase our physical activity through bicycling. Our community continues to add and improve trails; signs and pavement markings are also being added along bike routes.
In addition, the valet bicycle parking services offered at the Downtown Farmers Markets make the bicycle an ideal way to get to these events.
The Cedar Rapids Bicycle Advisory Committee, the Cedar Rapids Bicycle Ambassadors and the Linn County Trails Association are staffing the bike corral at each of the Downtown Farmers Markets this summer. Check it out!
