GOP deserves chance at economic recovery

Re: “The true purpose of the Kennedy tax comment,” Donald Brady's July 18 letter.
If John Kennedy said he was lowering taxes while quietly raising them by closing loopholes, why are the loopholes still there?
How can President Barack Obama's friend and financial adviser, Jeffrey Immelt, manage GE to a $3 billion profit last year without paying a cent in taxes?
President Ronald
Reagan turned the
economy around and put people back to work while successfully fighting the Cold War and creating debt that was only a drop in the bucket compared to the debt run up by the current administration. And unemployment is still climbing today.
A Republican Congress came in after Bill Clinton's first two years and enabled him to create jobs and reduce the debt.
A Democratic Congress under George Bush promoted the housing boom, which led to our current disaster.
We need to give the Republicans another chance to bring economic recovery while insuring the future of Social Security and Medicare.
