Branstad might he hurting Regents’ future
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Jul. 23, 2011 12:08 pm
Typically, Iowa's best and brightest leaders are asked to serve on the state Board of Regents. Gov. Terry Branstad's recent actions may cause some highly qualified future candidates to think twice about accepting such a call.
Placing short-term politics ahead of long-term governing does not enhance a governor's legacy, nor does it provide the appropriate separation of powers that our publicly funded higher education institutions deserve.
