The Sports Desk: On Iowa goes 'Guess-sell,' sets sights on Saturday

Here's Monday's Sports Desk, the On Iowa version.
This one has been in the chamber for quite some time. Monday, South Sioux City (Neb.) point guard Mike Gesell committed to play basketball for the University of Iowa.
This has been quite the journey for Iowa coach Fran McCaffrey. Gesell, a 6-foot-1 junior, first visited Iowa City two years ago during a football game. He picked Iowa over Stanford and Nebraska.
Gesell has led South Sioux City to consecutive Class B state championships. He averaged 19.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists.
Iowa needed this one.
The Hawkeyes will have pads on when they scrimmage at Kinnick Stadium this weekend. Football is getting serious.
We threw out to Twitter what people wanted or needed to see out of the team this weekend (granted, it's the first real scrimmage and just more than a week into camp).
The inside running drills might give people a measure for where the D-line is right now. Will QB James Vandenberg survive blitz pick-up drills and do some damage?
Most of you said you wanted to see . . . no injuries, of course.
