Tea Party’s goals are good for government
The Gazette Opinion Staff

I have been a lifelong moderate Republican, but for many of us, there is nowhere to go except for the following options - tax and spend Democrats or religious, right-wing social Republicans.
There has been much criticism of the Tea Party (of which I am not a member) about its trying to block and/or control Washington politics. Good for them. They are average Americans who are tired of politicians who put us in the position to have our debt ratings tarnished for the first time and increase the cost of living for all of us.
We need these solutions: term limits for Congress and a balanced-budget amendment. Let's see if our elected officials have enough guts to do what is right. By the way, they could vote their benefits to match with average Americans.
