Proposals for Cedar Rapids school district flood-damaged facilities are being accepted.
Scott Olson, a registered architect and commercial real estate broker with Skogman Commercial Real Estate at the Penthouse, distributed information packets to nearly 300 commercial brokers throughout the state.
Olson, who is the district's representative in the disposition of district property, also sent packets to potential developers, local contractors and groups who have already expressed an interest in the properties.
The Educational Service Center, the ESC Annex, the carpenter/paint shop, the main warehouse and the food service warehouse were damaged by floodwaters in 2008. The district also owns the surface parking lot at 2
nd
Ave. and 5
th
St. SW.
None of these properties will be used by the district when the new Educational Leadership & Support Center, located at 2500 Edgewood Rd. NW, opens in May 2012.
All of the flooded properties have been cleaned, and continuously climate controlled and maintained by the district since the flood. Two buildings are being used for warehouse space and two are being used for district maintenance operations.
Proposals will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Sept. 16. Olson will bring his recommendations to board members in October. He told board members earlier this month that the goal is to have all properties disposed of by May.
Money received from selling the facilities will go into the district's school infrastructure local-option sales tax fund.
