Vandals cause damage, steal items totaling $15,000 in Marion

Police said Friday reward money is available for tips about a series of car burglaries in Marion that totaled $15,000 in lost property and damage.
Several garages and vehicles were burglarized between 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday in the 2400 to 2700 blocks of 25th Avenue, police said. During the incidents, a vehicle parked in the driveway at 2585 25th Avenue had two windows broken out and was set on fire, according to police.
At two other residences, the suspects broke into garages and stole a pellet gun, alcohol and a satellite radio system. Several more vehicles parked outside of 2685 25th Avenue were burglarized and had items missing, authorities said.
Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call Marion police at (319) 377-1511 or Linn County CrimeStoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME. Rewards are possible if the information provided leads to an arrest. Anonymous tips are accepted.
