A University of Iowa student is accused of assault causing bodily injury and false imprisonment after authorities say he forced a woman to go with him to his room, placed his hand over her mouth and bit her.
Reports indicate that Jiachang Hu, 18, of Hillcrest Residence Hall W10, allegedly grabbed the female's head and arm and would not allow her to leave lunch at Hillcrest around 12:25 p.m. Tuesday.
Hu is accused of forcing the girl to go to his room, where he took control of her and placed his hand over her mouth, making it hard for her to breathe.
The woman's arm was also allegedly bitten by Hu, leaving teeth impressions and redness. The woman told police she was afraid of Hu.
Hu was being held at the Johnson County Jail Thursday morning, waiting to appear before a judge.
UI student records indicate that Hu is a student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences from Beijing, China.
