By Matt Ford: We had fallen asleep the night before watching The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. We always watched Leno on Mondays because of Headlines. We woke up and turned the TV on and the Today Show was talking about how a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. At that moment, the second plane hit the second tower.
Utter disbelief was the emotion I remember feeling. Extreme sadness and fear were the other two emotions that ebbed and flowed throughout the day as we were glued to the TV for the rest of the next few days.
It wasn't for a few days until I learned a casual aquaintance from my hometown of Newton, Jim Cleere, had died. He was staying at the Marriott when the South Tower collapsed on top of it.
