Cougars third in IHSGCA ratings

Cedar Rapids Kennedy ranks third in the first installment of the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association Class 4A team rankings released Aug. 28. The Cougars, coming off a state runner-up finish in 2010, has a calculated meet average of 151.63 and trail Ankeny (143.30) and West Des Moines Dowling (150.60).

The Cougars also boast the top two individuals in Cody Bell and Brigham Stewart, who edged Bell by two strokes in the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet medalist honors to open the season. They are tied for eighth with a 36.53 nine-hole scoring average.

Linn-Mar's Tyler McCann rounds out the top 10 with a 36.93 average. He is the Lions' highest ranked golfer, moving them to 12th among teams with a meet average of 159.40.

Cedar Rapids Xavier is 10th in the team standings with a 158.74 average, while Iowa City High is 13th.
