By Sherry Steinberg: I live in Montreal, Canada, and went across the border to a friend's summer place in Vermont on Lake Champlain on Sept. 11. I was in the car leaving Montreal at about the time it happened, but I didn't know about it yet. We stopped at a restaurant in Vermont for breakfast, and I don't think anyone there knew about it yet, either. When we got to the lake, we turned on the TV, and I saw a replay of the planes going through the towers. My first thought was, "This can't be happening. It must be a disaster movie." But I soon realized from the commentary that this had really happened earlier that morning. I felt terrible.
