By Wendy Garringer: I will never forget Sept. 11, 2001. I was in my living room, ironing clothes and watching Good Morning America. My oldest son, Mark, was sitting on the couch. This was his second day home from graduating Marine Corp. boot camp.
We watched in horror the first plane that hit the towers, but when the second plane hit, I knew there was something terribly wrong. Without knowing the details, I turned around and looked at my son, tears running down my face and told him, "You are going to war."
Mark had two tours in Iraq and fortunately made it home both times, but my heart goes out to all those mothers that never saw their child again.
My son is still in the Marine Corp and doing well.
