Iowa men to open Big Ten at home against Purdue

Iowa's men's basketball team willl open its 2011-2012 Big Ten season at home on Dec. 28 against Purdue, according to schedules released today by the Big Ten Conference.
Iowa upset then-No. 6-ranked Purdue to end the regular season last year. The game is televised by BTN and airs at 8:30 p.m.
Iowa then will play at noon on New Year's Eve at Wisconsin.
Iowa plays four Saturday afternoon Big Ten games at refurbished Carver-Hawkeye Arena. and only one Sunday afternoon game (Feb. 19 vs. Indiana) at home.
Other notes:
Iowa welcomes Big 12 newcomer to Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Jan. 26 for an ESPNU game. The Hawkeyes play at Nebraska on Feb. 29.
Iowa faces three of its four single-play opponents in succession beginning Jan. 7 at home against Ohio State. The Hawkeyes then travel to Michigan State on Jan. 10 and host Michigan on Jan. 14. Iowa plays its other single-play opponent, Illinois, in Champaign, Ill., at 5 p.m. Feb. 26.
Iowa will play Penn State twice with 12 days, starting with a Feb. 4 game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Hawkeyes then will travel to Penn State on Feb. 16.
