August brought no relief to Iowa's unemployment situation.
The state's unemployment rate dipped back down to 6.1 percent on a non-seasonally adjusted basis. That's exactly where it had been in March before falling to 6 percent for the months of April, May, June and July.
Overall employment in the state fell by 5,000 to 1,563,200, and the size of the labor force declined to 1,665,100, a drop of 3,500 from July.
Iowa's unemployment rate remained about 3 percentage points beneath the national August jobless rate of 9.1 percent.
