CEDAR RAPIDS - A motorcyclist was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for evaluation after he rear-ended a pickup truck Wednesday night.
Middle Amana resident Rick Barenz said just before 5:30 p.m., a motorcyclist struck the back of his 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck, while he was stopped behind another vehicle making a left-hand turn onto 22nd Avenue SW.
Barenz said he was headed northbound on Sixth Street SW and had slowed down after crossing Wilson Avenue because the vehicle in front of him had signaled to turn.
That was when he noticed in his mirror that the motorcyclist had not seen them stop.
"He was already starting to bear to my right when he clipped the back right corner of my pickup," Barenz said.
Barenz's vehicle sustained damage to its right taillight, and the motorcycle appeared to have little or no damage. The Cedar Rapids Fire Department reported the crash as a single vehicle motorcycle crash.
The name and extent of the motorcyclist's injuries were not released.
