IGHSAU releases regional swim assignments

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the regional assignments for girls swim programs Friday morning. Regional meets will begin Thursday, Oct. 27 with diving competition followed by swim finals on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Cedar Rapids will host two regional meets, which was announced previously, but now the fields at Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Cedar Rapids Washington are set.

Kennedy will host Bettendorf, Burlington, Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Fairfield, Keokuk, Linn-Mar, Muscatine and Williamsburg.

Washington welcomes Clinton, Davenport Central, Davenport North, Davenport West, Dubuque Wahlert, Iowa City High, Iowa City West, Pleasant Valley and Tipton.

Decorah and Vinton-Shellsburg will compete at Central Middle School hosted by Waterloo West. Cedar Falls highlights the teams that include Charles City, Dubuque Hempstead, Dubuque Senior, Mason City and Waterloo East.

Swim event champions and the next 18 fastest regional times advance to the state meet at the Marshalltown YMCA on Saturday, Nov. 5. The top four regional divers and then next top 12 regional scorers will advance to the state diving meet, also at the Marshalltown YMCA, on Friday, Nov. 4.
