Alburnett, Wapsie Valley remain undefeated

ALBURNETT 40, HIGHLAND 12

At Highland, the Pirates, ranked No. 9 in Class 1A, improved to 7-0 and 5-0 in Class 1A, District 6 with a win over Highland.

Mitchell Harger racked up 208 yards on 16 carries and had three touchdowns. Jacob Sevining was a perfect 5 of 5, throwing three touchdown passes for 126 yards. Connor Frederick caught three passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

Highland is 2-5, 1-4.

WAPSIE VALLEY 41, NORTH LINN 7

At North Linn, 8th-ranked Wapsie Valley improved to 7-0 (5-0 in 1A, District 5 play) with a crushing win over the home team.

The Warriors' Tyler Odneal scored on an 86-yard kickoff return to open the second half and added a 10-yard TD run.

Wapsie Valley had 200 yards rushing and 120 passing. The Warriors close the season with games against Turkey Valley and Starmont. Turkey Valley (5-2, 4-1) defeated Starmont (6-1, 4-1) 20-12 on Friday night.

GRINNELL 41, MOUNT VERNON 0

At Grinnell, Jordan Ely caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from Eli Dunne as Grinnell (6-1, 5-0 3A-6) defeated Mount Vernon.

Dunne threw for two more touchdowns as Grinnell held Mount Vernon to only 63 total offensive yards on 44 plays.
