What’s true purpose of Wall Street protests?

It is hard to know what a real taxpayer's protest looks like anymore. However, those people who are making a statement by taking over public/private spaces in our state, with a message that corporations have too much power and the rest of us have too little, seem to be on target.
Instead of ignoring their actions or underreporting the story, it would be great to see The Gazette run a series of in-depth stories that report and fact-check the issues that the Occupy Wall Street protesters are raising about corporate power and the effect it has on the rest of us.
