First Kennedy football coach, Dale Tryon dies

Dale Tryon, the first football coach at Cedar Rapids Kennedy, died of cancer Tuesday in Ames. He was 75.
Tryon coached three years at Kennedy and compiled a 15-12 record. The Cougars were 3-6 in 1967, 5-3 in 1968 and 7-3 in 1969.
He taught and coached football at six different locations: Manson, Audubon, Kennedy, the University of Iowa, Ames and Boone and compiled a total record of 147-63.
He was inducted into the Kennedy Hall of Fame in 2005.
