Fiscally responsibility needed in Marion
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Nov. 2, 2011 2:34 pm
I have been a resident of Marion for more than 34 years, and I also own a small business in Marion. Marion needs a change!
The Marion City Council's long-range plans are grandiose. Is it wise to have 8-foot residential sidewalks that go nowhere and will be maintained by the city? Our deteriorating infrastructure of streets, water, sanitary, sewer and stormwater should be the highest of priorities.
If the residents of Marion look at their current water bill, they will notice an increase in stormwater fees, an urban tree fee and now an increase in their extra trash bag fees. I hope the trees they plant are “money trees” because the cost of living in Marion is getting expensive.
A detailed look at the spending by the Marion City Council is in order.
A vote for Allen “Snooks” Bouska for Marion mayor, and Dwight Hogan, George Ulferts and Paul Draper for city council will bring the residents of Marion sensible leadership and true fiscal responsibility.
