I support Jarrett Mitchell for Iowa City Council. I have known Jarrett for a few years and was excited when he decided to move back to Iowa City after a few years away and open a coffee stand.
Jarrett is thoughtful and considerate of others. He does so many things in life for others and is making a difference in this world. Iowa City needs Jarrett's energy and perspective.
Iowa City needs to look at making our streets more bike-friendly. I bike or walk to work for the university every day. Bicycling and walking are not only for the environmentally minded, but helpful when facing limited parking and, best of all, for our own personal good health. Along the same lines, we need to constantly be looking for ways to become more sustainable and eco-conscious in all that we do as a city. Both of these are important things Jarrett wants Iowa City to address.
Jarrett is active in our local arts and music scene and is always willing to support a band or artist in a grass-roots way. He's a small-business man who held his first rally making handmade signs in College Green Park and has spent less than $100 on his campaign. He lives by a Do It Yourself ethos, and supporting local, creative energy and business is his passion.
