Knake hopes to play, keep Lisbon's magical season going

LISBON - He had to use crutches to leave the field last Friday night. Yet Ben Knake hopes to play Saturday morning.
Ah, the recuperative powers of youth.
The Lisbon quarterback feared the worst when he injured his knee early in Lisbon's 20-7 win over Lone Tree in a Class A state playoff quarterfinal. The official diagnosis was a sprained MCL, with a week of physical therapy enough to make Knake optimistic he'll be on the field when the top-ranked Lions play No. 3 Mason City Newman in a semifinal at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
