Trojans dominate in season opener

MARION – It was far from perfect, but it was a solid opening night for No. 2 Iowa City West.
Coach Mark Reiland's Trojan wrestling team opened its season Thursday night with a pair of impressive Mississippi Valley Conference wins, downing No. 5 Linn-Mar, 45-18, before rolling to a 71-3 victory over Cedar Rapids Xavier. Linn-Mar closed out the double dual by downing the Saints, 69-9.
Reiland didn't go overboard about downing the Lions. Linn-Mar is starting the season short-handed without Mark Atwater and Mitch Wantock, both out with injuries suffered during football season. Joel Northrup also missed the match because he failed to make weight at 132.
