Given that more than 200 jobs hang in the balance, the decision to consolidate Cedar Rapids Post Office operations in Milan, Ill., should be slowed down long enough to have an independent audit completed. Someone who has no stake in the outcome may have a more objective view.
If the savings that is touted is real, then let it move forward. If this proves to be “creative accounting,” then let's not be so quick to put all these people on the street.
Have the workers who would be involved had an opportunity to show their own plan to make the operations more effective?
