Fire investigators will try today to determine the cause of an overnight fire that heavily damaged a house in Lone Tree.
Firefighters from four different departments battled the blaze at 208 W. Jayne St. No one was home when the fire was reported shortly before midnight, and no one was hurt in the firefight.
Second Lt. Kent Andersen, of the Lone Tree Fire Department, said the first crew to arrive found heavy smoke coming from the two-story house. He said as many as 30 firefighters, from Lone Tree, Hills, Riverside and West Liberty helped control the fire. Some were on scene until past 4 a.m.
Heavy smoke damage was reported throughout the house, but Andersen said it is salvageable.
"It's still in pretty good shape structurally," Andersen said.
Andersen said the cause of the fire is unknown, and he was not certain where the fire originated. An investigator from the State Fire Marshal's Office was on the scene Friday morning.
The property is owned by Matthew J. Parizek, according to the Johnson County Assessor.
