The Sports Desk -- From Norm to next to recruiting

HawkeyeReport.com's Tom Kakert went through The Gazette/On Iowa carwash today.

First, we did a podcast that you can listen to here. Then, it was off to The Sports Desk webcast (which you can view at this link). We touched them all in our five minutes, from defensive coordinator Norm Parker's retirement announcement yesterday to Parker's possible replacement (we've got Phil Parker 5-3 odds) and, of course, my staple topic with Tom, football recruiting.

Iowa netted just one commitment this weekend (CB Kevin Buford), but could heat up later this week. S Anthony Morgan (Plano, Texas) is set to announce Wednesday and Iowa looks good there. Iowa also in business for WR Tevaun Smith and RB Akeel Lynch.

Iowa is at 14 commitments. Kirk Ferentz has said he expects to sign in the 20 range on Feb. 1, when the national signing period begins.
